Online Credit Card Payment Frequently Asked Questions
How do I access the online credit card payment service?
Go to mpi.mb.ca and select Online Credit Card Payment from the Tools & Resources menu.
How will online credit card payments be applied to my account?
Your online credit card payment amount will automatically be applied to the applicable items in the following order:
- RST items
- Outstanding non-financing policy and customer items* (paid in the order of arrears, payments due today, then payments due in up to 45 days), which may include:
- Driver's licence fee
- Driver's licence reinstatement fee
- Driver's licence cancellation fee
- Other driver's licence fees
- Other customer items sorted by smallest amount first
- Policy fees
- Policy interest
- Snopass
- Vehicle registration
- Policy premiums
* Policy items are any fees related to vehicle registration and/or insurance. Customer items are all other fees, such as driver's licence charges, late fees, etc.
What items are not eligible to be paid for online by credit card?
If you are currently using 12 pre-authorized payments to pay for an account item – for example your insurance – your payment is already set up to be automatically withdrawn and you are not eligible to make an online credit card payment for that item.
If you have a reassessment payment restriction on your account, you are not eligible to make an online credit card payment for your first payment instalment. For more information about your payment restriction, see the letter attached to your annual statement of account.
Subrogation items and Fleet arrears cannot be paid for online.
What types of credit cards can be used to pay online?
You can pay with VISA or MasterCard. We do not accept American Express or American Express Prepaid Debit.
What information do I need to provide to make an online credit card payment?
If you have a VISA or MasterCard, would like to make a payment on a personal account and have a Manitoba driver's licence or identification card, you need to provide your document number, postal/zip code associated with your mailing address and date of birth.
If you have a VISA or MasterCard, would like to make a payment on a personal account and do not have a Manitoba driver's licence or identification card, you need to provide your customer number, postal/zip code associated with your mailing address and last name.
If you have a VISA or MasterCard and would like to make a payment on a corporate account, you need to provide your customer number, postal/zip code associated with your mailing address and company name.
Is there a service charge to pay online by credit card?
No, Manitoba Public Insurance does not apply an additional service charge to pay online by credit card.
Can I make multiple online credit card payments?
Yes, you can make multiple online credit card payments provided you have a balance owing that includes items due within the next 45 days or any outstanding items from the last five years.
Where can I find my document number?
Your document number (DD/REF) can be found on your Manitoba driver's licence or identification card.
Where can I find my customer number?
Your customer number can be found in the top right corner of your statement of account. It can also be found on your registration card/ownership document or policy form.
Why am I receiving errors messages?
Error messages can be caused by any of the following reasons:
- A required field was not completed.
- A valid document or customer number was not entered.
- An invalid postal or zip code was entered.
- A postal or zip code associated with your street address instead of your mailing address was entered.
- Incorrect characters and/or numbers were entered for the verification check.
- The Online Credit Card Payment User Terms and Conditions were not agreed to.
- Your last name was not entered correctly.
- Your business name was not entered correctly.
- A payment amount of less than $5 was entered.
- A payment amount that exceeded your maximum payment amount was entered.
- An invalid email address was entered.
- The email addresses entered did not match.
If you received an error message, please review the message and any available help text to ensure you are entering the required information correctly. If you are still experiencing difficulties, call the Contact Centre at 204-985-7000, 1-800-665-2410 (toll-free) or 204-985-8832 (deaf access TTY/TTD) for assistance.
Will I get a payment receipt or confirmation after I make an online credit card payment?
Yes. Once the online credit card payment is approved, a transaction confirmation page will be displayed. You can print this page and keep it for your records.
Can I get an email receipt when I make an online credit card payment?
Yes. If you would like to receive an email receipt, you must provide a valid email address when prompted.
Why do I have a maximum payment amount for my online credit card payment?
The online credit card payment service can only be used to pay a balance owing that includes items due within the next 45 days and any outstanding items from the last five years. Payments for future items due after 45 days cannot be accepted.
When will my payment be applied to my account?
Your payment amount will be applied to your balance owing on the same day it is made. However, please allow a few business days for your account to reflect the update.
How can I check the amount and the due date of my next payment?
Check your statement of account for details on your balance owing and payment due date.
Who do I contact if I have questions about my account?
Please contact an Autopac agent or Service Centre if you have any questions about your account.
Can I make changes to my account online?
No. If you would like to change how you pay or make any changes to your account, please visit an Autopac agent or Service Centre.
Can I use the online credit card payment service on a mobile device or tablet?
Yes. Browsers for iOS 5 and up, Android 4.0.1 and up, BlackBerry OS 7 and up, and Windows Mobile OS 7.5 and up are supported.
Can I still make a payment through my financial institution?
Yes. You can pay online or by telephone through your financial institution using your customer number.
How does Manitoba Public Insurance protect my personal information online?
Just like with all other personal information, Manitoba Public Insurance takes the protection of your credit card information very seriously. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect your information from unauthorized access.
